Playing with a jazz trio, Classic Christmas Festive Songs
May your heart be captured by the ultimate gift — Jesus — this Advent season.
When it comes to celebrating the holiday season, one of the most beloved and cherished traditions is singing traditional Christmas songs. These timeless tunes have been passed down from generation to generation, bringing joy and warmth to homes around the world.
Steve's Christmas Music- Album#1:
My Annual Christmas Offering of Alternative Christmas Music. If I take time to remember why I celebrate Christmas and fix my eyes on Jesus, it brings great rest to my soul. Peace was born on earth. Find some quiet time and sit back, relax, and enjoy this year's installment...
Steve's Christmas Music-Album#2:
Christmas is a time of joy and giving for many people. While there are classic Christmas tracks that are must-listens around the holiday season, I wanted to shed light on more unique Christmas songs from different genres beyond classical music and the pop hits. There’s a song for almost everyone on this list. Whether you’re a rock, country, or a "whatever" fan, there’s something here for you!
Make Good Your Christmas Day - 2022
Notes: The title comes from Christy Nockels' seasonal album with a very short song which became my title. It inspired me to make this one to be very reflective of the season.
Best Song-Nat King Cole & Johnny Mathis Duet
Notes: Another change in feeling from many of the previous version's stemming from my cancer diagnosis. I guess it put a different prospective on the season for me. This sets a very calming listening mood. (very relaxing)
Best Song-Silent Night/Be Still-(a different version than you're used to)
Notes: This is a departure from any of the previous Christmas albums I did before; featuring some of my friends to play along with me. *You'll notice that I didn't put out an edition for 2020 due to the Covid "Cootie Bug" outbreak figuring no one wants to remember that year.
Best Song-We Three Kings-Funk Version
Notes: It was a double CD year! This one was inspired by Matt Maher's tune. This has a beautiful duet of Ave Maria. Also, I discovered a wife & husband group called Salt of the Sound. This one is very calm & relaxing to listen to. (In 2020 I made my first video from this CD)
Best Song-When I Think of Christmas
Notes: This is the exact opposite CD from 2019 reflecting a more upbeat list of tunes that are fun to listen to and the videos are entertaining also!
Best Song-Ugly Sweater Blues
Notes: I began listening to Christmas songs in July each year and look for inspiration from the vast list of entries. It is a long method of reduction until I find the right mix for the year. This title comes from one of the tracks and it sums up my feeling about Christmas music.
Best Song-Never Just Another Christmas
Notes: From the British slogan " Keep Calm" an assortment of tunes from mixed genres.
Best Song-How Great Thou Art...A stirring rendition
Notes: By far, the most popular year to date! It 's Christmas Meets Classic Rock with traditional songs mashed up with Classic Rockers.
Best Song-Coventry Carol/Great Gig in the Sky
Notes: Here's side two featuring the group Classical Blast! First time I actually played on the CD.
Best Song-Christmas Don't Be Late (very laid back)
Notes: Variations of familiar Christmas songs. Makes them sound new again. At this point, I was adding a lot more new age artists in the mix.
Best Song-Variations on Fa La La La La.
Notes: Maybe I got lazy this year and created a best of from the beginning. Good one to listen to if you weren't on the mailing lists.
Best Song-My Favorite Things (Kenny Burrell)
Notes-Remembering the Songs of Christmas Past
Best Song-Late in December (Jackie Gleason)
Notes: Volume 2 of Bringing Back Lost Christmas Tunes
Best Song-Oh Happy Day(Edwin Hawkins Singers)
Notes: A compilation of concert band performances from our stints in the Melbourne Concert Band & The Heartland Pops.
Best Song-And the Mountains Echoed Gloria!
Steve's Christmas Music-All Instrumentals
Steve's Christmas Music-All Vocals
Notes: Bonus track at the end...
Best Song-When You Wish Upon a Star by Celtic Thunder
Notes: The twist here is that every other song is done Acapella. You'll hear a lot of Straight no Chaser and a sprinkling of Jazz.
Best Song:-Santa Claus, Do You Ever Get the Blues?
Mixed Genres collection to sit back and remember the past holiday seasons.
Best Song-Christmas Like a Child.
Notes: Felt like I finally hit my stride on what my intent was for these alternative Christmas CD's.
Best Song-Wonderful Christmastime
Features the Moody Blues & Jim Brickman
Best Song-Celine Dion's O Holy Night
Notes: Featuring Mannheim Steamroller, Big, Bad Voodoo Daddy, & Roomful of Blues
Best Song-White Christmas by Roomful of Blues
Notes: Featuring Fourplay, David Benoit, and Jim Brickman with many New Age choices too
Notes: You get a country feel on this one with a little Pop & Gospel added in for variety. Best Song-The Angels Cried (Duet by Allison Krause & Alan Jackson)
This has been edited & remastered in 2022. Most of the rough ones have been removed but you will find some gems in here.
Notes: This is the one that defies the typical type of Christmas songs you'll hear. When you listen to it, you may have to remind yourself that you're listening to a Christmas CD. Best Song-Celebrate Me Home.
Notes: I grew tired of the same old songs played all the time and I wanted to create a Christmas CD that doesn't hit you with the relentless same old' same old. I published two of them and these are the Ultimate Popular Christmas tunes that are great for singing along to. Compare this one to "An Alternative Christmas CD and you will hear the difference!
